Fit India Movement

As per the CBSE decision, our school Holy Spirit Convent Higher Secondary School organized meditation Sessions for the students on 11th November 2019.  All the senior class students from 6th to 12th took part in the session. The fitness celebration went on for two weeks.

A few minutes of meditation during the day can be a great way to get rid of the stress that accumulates daily in both the body and mind. Keeping the spirit of meditation alive in students,

  • On the first and second day, students were educated on the importance of meditation. They were explained that meditation helps in maintaining not only physical and mental health but also healthy social life. The staff, as well as the management of the school including Sr. Principal, actively participated in this activity. They were taught how to sit comfortably with closed eyes. Making no effort to control the breath; simply breathe naturally, focusing the attention on the breath and on how the body moves with each inhalation and exhalation in a proper posture.
  • Day third and forth was started with Yoga, which included the basic breathing techniques of yoga called Anulom Vilom, followed by Pranayam. Besides being a great cardiovascular workout, Surya Namaskar was also conducted as it is also known to have an immensely positive impact on the body and mind.
  • On day fifth and sixth, the students were educated about physical therapy also called PT. There were 10 total exercises.
  • On day seventh and eighth, students were assembled for Aerobics which is a form of physical exercise that combines rhythmic aerobic exercise with stretching and strength training routines with the goal of improving all elements of fitness (flexibility, muscular strength, and cardiovascular)
  • Day ninth and tenth students where choreographed dance by the dance faculty which is a performing art form consisting of purposefully selected sequences of human movement.
  • The remaining two days that are eleventh and twelfth, students were prepared to do some extracurricular activities like rope skipping gardening martial arts, etc.

Addressing the students, the Principal on the twelfth day appealed to the students to include meditation in their daily routine for its wholesome and salubrious effects on the mind, body and soul.
